Jolts plays with the connections possible between image and sound through juxtaposition. Collecting video clips of everyday images from obscure angles, some deliberately devised and some chanced upon, their accompanying sounds were modified or layered with others. The appropriation of jazz motifs, incorporated with found, self-produced sound and field recordings in the sonic mix, the elements intermingle to create novel associations. Spliced together with reference to musical structures of jazz and canon, the video’s composition makes use of multiple, concurrent timelines to create snippets of sensations.
