"Everything hinging on this scrap of canvas, tugging in multiple directions, taut at the seams.

 

She started with a flailing motion, like jumping into a shallow pool and thrashing one’s arms and legs in all directions. Thrashing that falls over in its own silence – there is no omnipresent noise, no soundtrack – then again, I stopped listening to things outside of the tarp beneath my feet and the drip of paint – maybe the soundtrack."

The product of a year-long journey back into painting, Everything Hinging centers around journal writings made whilst completely a highly intimate painting. It attempts to capture push and pull between maker and artwork, framed in a video that echoes the composition, colour and texture of painting.
